We gve you a look at celebrities mourning Michael Jackson on Twitter, but many have released longer statements as well. Madonna says she “can’t stop crying” about the death of Michael Jackson.
The singer has been sobbing uncontrollably since she heard the 50-year-old Jackson had passed away yesterday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his Los Angeles home. She said: “I can’t stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.”
Singer Sir Elton John was halfway though his annual White Tie and Tiara Ball when he heard about Michael’s death. He broke the news to his guests - including Liz Hurley, Hugh Grant, Lily Allen and Kelly Osbourne - before dedicating his song Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me to Michael. Nearly half of his guests left after they found out about the death.
Britney Spears was one of the first to express her grief about the pop icon’s passing. In a statement issued last night, she said: “I was so excited to see his show in London. We were going to be on tour in Europe at the same time and I was going to fly in to see him. He has been an inspiration throughout my entire life and I’m devastated he’s gone!”

Michael Jackson Taking Over iTunes Chart
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, The Charts, Pop, iTunes,
It should come as no surprise that less than 24 hours after Michael Jackson’s death, his library is dominating the iTunes sales chart. You can check out the entire Michael Jackson music library if you want to get in on the action.
What is surprising? Although he currently has 39 entries in the Top 100, his highest chart position is #2. What’s at #1? ‘I Gotta Feeling’ from the Black Eyed Peas. (Perez Hilton’s rivals are also still sitting at #3 with ‘Boom Boom Pow.’)
So which songs are fans are downloading the most? The King of Pop’s ‘Man in the Mirror’ currently sits at #2 while ‘Thriller’ stands at #4 and ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ at #5. ‘Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough’ and ‘Smooth Criminal’ are the only other tunes ranked in The Top 10.
Update: Looks like 8 of the Top 10 iTunes albums are also Michael Jackson’s work.

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, Has Died
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Industry News, Pop, Rock,
It is alleged the ‘Thriller’ singer passed away from cardiac arrest today, June 25th 2009. The news was first broken by TMZ, with CNN reporting he was in a coma. Emergency services in California confirm they rushed a 50-year-old man to hospital this afternoon, but strict privacy laws mean that they cannot confirm if it was the singer.
TMZ reported: “Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. When paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but they had no luck. We’re told one of the staff members at Jackson’s home called 911. LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead.”
The singer’s family are believed to be at the UCLA hospital in the city, which has been cordoned off by police tape.
Michael - who has three children, Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 10 and seven-year-old Prince Michael II - was believed to have been suffering from skin cancer and was due to embark on a comeback 50-date residency at O2 Arena in London next month. The first dates of the tour were delayed amid concerns for his health.
Uri Geller - one of Michael’s closest friends - told Sky News: “Like the whole world I’m absolutely devastated and lost for words because everyone expected him to come to England. He was in good health - he was rehearsing and dancing. I’m shocked.”

Say goodbye to the silly 80s revival, because it’s getting old. The early 90s has been represented and celebrated at raves, but we haven’t seen the music of the 90s make it’s big comeback yet. However, DJ Spinbad may be just the man who shines a light on the 90s, rekindling interest in the decade that began almost 20 years ago. He just put out a free 90s megamix that is pretty amazing. It features music from the decade, but also splices in TV and film audio bites as well, creating an amazing 80-minute mix that anyone alive in the 90s will enjoy. You can download the free MP3 at the link below.

Mariah Carey Thinks You’re Obsessed With Her

Butterfly...Dreamlover...Hero...Emotions...Fantasy...Forever...Heartbreaker...Honey...Someday...Vanishing. Fresh from Mariah Carey‘s 12th studio album is - you guessed it - another one-word titled song.
In “Obsessed,” the diva repeatedly asks the man in her life, “Why you so obsessed with me?” After looking at her new cover art, I’d personally like to know why Mariah’s so obsessed with her own body. (I think I’ve seen every bra she owns by now.)
Like the new track? Then download Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel when it drops on August 25th.

Michael Jackson training with Lou Ferrigno
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Pop,
Michael Jackson is being trained by Lou Ferrigno. The former Incredible Hulk, and former Mr. Universe, is paying secret visits to the Thriller star’s Los Angeles home to help him prepare for his forthcoming This Is It run of shows at London’s O2 arena. A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “Lou has been visiting Michael to build him up so he can perform his dance routines. But Michael refuses to lift weights. He doesn’t want to bulk up.”
The 50-year-old singer - who weighs a reported 126 pounds and eats just one meal a day - is reportedly battling skin cancer and is said to be terrified gaining weight will damage his chances of beating the disease. Michael and Lou struck up a friendship two years ago when Jackson began using the 57-year-old actor’s gym. Lou said at the time: “Michael is more delicate. Our trainer conditioned him for dancing. He likes me, he feels safe with me. He was nervous about people looking at him when he’s training.”
Last month, it was revealed that Michael Jackson would kick off his concert run on July 13, five days later than originally planned. Shows scheduled to take place on July 10, 12 and 14 have been moved to the end of the residency in March 2010.

Lady Gaga Touring with Kanye West
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Artist News, Concerts / Tours, Dance, Hip-Hop & Rap, Pop,
Although I doubt Baba Wawa (a.k.a. Barbara Walters) has a clue who Lady Gaga is, she’ll probably figure it out soon enough.
Earlier today, Kanye West broke major touring news…to the ladies of The View. (It’s apparently the new TRL.) The rapper told the daytime audience that he’ll soon be performing with that other musical fashionista.
So will Gaga be opening for Kanye….or will he be the warm-up act for her? Neither. “She’s talented and she’s, um….she’s so incredible that she’s not an opening act. We’re doing our show together, with no opening act,” West teased. (So it’s basically the hipper version of the Elton John/Billy Joel tour?)
No other details about the upcoming tour have yet been announced.

Leona Lewis finishing up album, planning two-year tour
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Artist News, Collaborations, Concerts / Tours, Upcoming Releases, Pop,
Leona Lewis is planning a two-year tour. The singer wants to hit the road for her first ever solo tour as soon as she finishes recording her second album in Los Angeles. She said: “I’ll be touring in 2010 and through to the year after. I just can’t wait.” Leona - who shot to fame after winning UK TV talent show The X Factor - is really excited about her upcoming LP, the follow-up to her hit 2007 debut Spirit. The album is rumoured to be packed with several star guests, including Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and super-producer Timbaland, and Leona insists fans will be surprised by her new sound.
The 24-year-old star told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: “I’ve recorded about 20 songs so far. I’d say it was about halfway there. I’ve been flying back and forth to Los Angeles to record it. The music has a different feel this time. It’s more of a live, heavier sound with a lot of real instruments. It’s something I’ll be able to perform live.”
Jordin Sparks - a former winner of talent show ‘American Idol’ - recently revealed she is keen to collaborate with Leona. She previously said: “I want to work with Leona Lewis. I love her, she’s so sweet! I’d love to do a nice powerful female duet with her. I think our voices would blend together really well.”
